Pasteboard Tab
The Pasteboard Tab allows you to create, delete and manage Custom Pasteboards as well as edit settings for the Main Pasteboard Window. Custom Pasteboards allow you to store and edit items that you need to frequently use. You can use Custom Pasteboards to store things such as addresses, phone numbers, passwords, images and much more.
Appearance
You can control much of the appearance of your PTHPasteboard windows from this section.
-
Always show window
When this checkbox is checked your Custom Pasteboard window will always be shown on screen. It'll only hide itself if another Mac OS X application enters Full Screen mode (such as a game or Quicktime Player). If this checkbox isn't checked your Custom Pasteboard window will automatically hide itself whenever PTHPasteboard isn't the active application. If you close your Custom Pasteboard window it'll only show again if you click on its Menubar Image or if you assign a Hot Key to show the window.
-
Keep window on top
When checked your Custom Pasteboard window will hover over most other windows in the system. If this option isn't checked your Custom Pasteboard window will be at the same level as the other system windows and may be hidden behind another window.
-
Display buffer numbers
This setting controls whether the buffer numbers show up on the Pasteboard window to the left of the Pasteboard Item.
-
Show when app activated
Turning this on will cause the Pasteboard window to always appear whenever the Pasteboard app becomes the frontmost system app.
-
Display <Number> Items
This text field controls the maximum number of items that can be shown on the Custom Pasteboard window at one time without scrolling.
-
Background Row Colors
These color wells allow you to specify the color for the items in your Custom Pasteboard window. The very top item is "Even" and the next one is "Odd".
-
Autoshow window
This pop up allows you to choose a window side to "dock" your Custom Pasteboard window. When a size is selected your Custom Pasteboard window will automatically dock itself to a side of the screen and will shift itself off screen when not in use. A few pixels of each window remain on screen and when you mouse over them your Custom Pasteboard window will slide on screen, when you are done move your mouse cursor away from the window and it'll automatically disappear again. This allows you to have quick one click access to your pasteboard history, without taking any screen real estate.
Tip:
Choose bold Even/Odd colors for the Pasteboard windows in order to quickly differentiate between multiple windows.
Tip:
You can use Autoshow to minimize the amount of the screen that PTHPasteboard uses while still giving you quick access to any of your Pasteboard items.
Menubar Image
This section allows you to choose an image to put up on the menubar that will make this window activate.
-
Menubar Image
Choose any image that you like to put up on the menubar. Or choose none to not use an image for your Custom Pasteboard window.
-
Menubar Position
This slider allows you limited control over the position of the Menubar Image on the menubar. Note that Apple reserves the right most portion of the menubar for its own icons and as such PTHPasteboard is limited to being placed to the left of these items.
-
Menubar Action
This setting controls what happens when you click on the Menubar Image. You can have it either show up the Pasteboard Window or show a Menu that contains the Pasteboard Items.
Tip:
Close the Pasteboard window and use the "Show Small Menu" Menubar Action to interact with PTHPasteboard without a window.
Tip:
Alternate Click on the Menubar Image to clear pasteboard the pasteboard history when in Show Menu mode.
Pasting
This section allows you to control what happens when you paste an item from your Custom Pasteboard window.
-
Move to Top (Only for Main Window)
When checked PTHPasteboard will automatically move any item you paste from the Main window to the top most position in the buffer (position 0). With this setting enabled pasting from the PTHPasteboard window will cause the item to also be copied to the system wide pasteboard, so that Command-v will paste this item. If this is disabled pasting of items does not affect the order of the pasteboard history and the current system wide pasteboard item does not change.
-
Copy to Main (Only for Custom Windows)
When checked pasting an item from your Custom Pasteboard window will cause that item show up in your Main Pasteboard window. When unchecked pasting an item from your Custom Pasteboard window will cause that item to not be added to the top of the Main Pasteboard Window.
-
As Plaintext
When checked pasting an item from this window will automatically strip all formatting
Tip:
Paste with the Command/Apple key to toggle this setting when pasting.
Advanced... (PRO Feature)
The Advanced Button will open up a Sheet that allows you to control various Advanced Appearance settings of each Window. Note this feature is only available for PTHPasteboard PRO
-
Always Show as Plaintext
This causes the buffer items in the Pasteboard Window to always display with no formatting
-
Show as Compact Text
Enabling this setting will cause the Pasteboard Window to display text by stripping any extra spaces or returns from the text string. This allows you to see more of each Pasteboard item, but still paste with all formatting/text intact.
-
Plaintext Font
You can change the default Plaintext font from the System Default one. This will not affect any formatted text (unless the Always Show as Plaintext setting is also enabled).
-
Clear Search on Paste
Enabling this setting will clear the Search Box on the Pasteboard Windows after each paste
